Accelerating to Zero

The Ann Arbor / Washtenaw 2030 District is a public-private-nonprofit collaborative working to create a groundbreaking high-performance building district in downtown Ann Arbor.

Our goal is to dramatically reduce the environmental impacts of building construction and operations while increasing Ann Arbor’s competitiveness in the business environment and increasing owners’ return on investment.

What impact do buildings have on carbon emissions?

Emissions from buildings account for over 40% of global carbon emissions. By reducing building emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy installation, we can get that much closer towards reaching our goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2030 – the only way to avoid a 1.5 degree warming future.
