About Seattle 2030 District:

The Seattle 2030 District is a collaborative initiative dedicated to fostering urban sustainability and resilience. Established as a public-private partnership, our mission is to create vibrant, environmentally-conscious urban areas by 2030 through innovative strategies and community-driven efforts. As a program of the Seattle 2030 District, the Bellevue 2030 District works to break down market barriers to sustainability in the city of Bellevue, Washington.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Sustainability Program Coordinator to lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives within the Seattle and Bellevue 2030 Districts. In particular, this role will focus on the 2030 goal for stormwater and outreach/education. The Sustainability Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of sustainable practices, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring progress toward ambitious environmental goals in stormwater management and toxics reduction.

This is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt position that is currently funded through May 2025. This role may transition to a permanent position with additional funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Support: Assist the Program Manager with the development and implementation of sustainability programs, initiatives, and strategies in alignment with the District’s goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with property owners, managers, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, governmental entities, and community organizations to promote sustainability and drive collaboration. 
  • Project Management: Coordinate and oversee projects aimed at improving building performance, reducing energy consumption, enhancing water efficiency, and minimizing transportation emissions. This role will primarily support grant-funded projects to facilitate stormwater pollution reduction and toxics control in the Puget Sound region. 
  • Education and Outreach: Assist in the development and execution of educational workshops, seminars, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness and promote best practices in sustainability among stakeholders. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, green building practices, and environmental metrics.
  • Proven experience in sustainability program management, project coordination, or a similar role, preferably in urban sustainability initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders and convey complex sustainability concepts effectively.
  • Organized individual with superior time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, urban planning, landscape architecture or a related field.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and policies related to sustainability and/or stormwater management.
  • Experience with stormwater management and water quality best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $24.04-$25.48 Hourly ($50,000-53,000 full time annual equivalent) commensurate with experience.
