Katherine Taylor and Suzanne Smith Jablonski to Speak on Sept. 18th

Katherine Taylor, general manager of the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center, and Suzanne Smith Jablonski, executive director of Downtown Ithaca Local Development Corporation, will be the main presenters at our upcoming quarterly meeting.

They will introduce us to one of the most exciting new projects in the city, the first all-electric conference center in the United States, which opened earlier this summer.

The new all-electric Ithaca Downtown Conference Center.

The conference center, the largest in the region, includes a 12,300 square-foot grand ballroom, an executive boardroom, breakout rooms, trade show space, and a fully electric commercial kitchen for catering events.

Located at 116-118 East Green St., the conference center occupies the first and second floors of the 12-story building, with 40 units of supportive housing and 141 units of affordable housing above the conference center.

The building was designed and developed by the Vecino Group and construction began in 2021. The total cost of the development, including the renovation and expansion of the eastern portion of the Green Street Parking Garage, was $108 million.

The conference center is expected to significantly boost Ithaca’s local and tourism economies over the next 20 years.

Be sure to attend the 2030 District quarterly meeting on September 18 to hear all about the new Downtown Ithaca Conference Center.
