After the purchase of McKay Tower in 2013 the owners unveiled their plans to completely renovate the interior and exterior of the building; efforts included creating energy efficent residential apartments on top floors, creating the Ballroom at McKay in the former 2nd floor bank space. The owners also did an overhaul on the entire buildings cooling system in order to save on wasted energy use and to allow for more efficient cooling through out the building. The entire elevator system was also replaced resulting in a more efficient and cost savings system. The dome lighting system was also replaced with over 1200 LED energy efficient lights.
