Established as a private-public partnership, our mission is to create vibrant, environmentally conscious urban areas by 2030 through innovative strategies and community-driven efforts.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Sustainability Program Coordinator to lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives within the Seattle 2030 District. In particular, this role will focus on the 2030 goal for stormwater and implementation of Green Stormwater Infrastructure projects. The Sustainability Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of sustainable practices, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring progress toward ambitious environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Lead the development and implementation of sustainability programs, initiatives, and strategies in alignment with the District’s goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with property owners, managers, developers, local businesses, governmental entities, and community organizations to promote sustainability and drive collaboration.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and oversee projects aimed at improving building performance, reducing energy consumption, enhancing water efficiency, and minimizing transportation emissions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on energy usage, water consumption, and transportation emissions to track progress, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
  • Education and Outreach: Develop and execute educational workshops, seminars, and outreach campaigns to raise awareness and promote best practices in sustainability among stakeholders.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on implementing sustainable building practices, energy efficiency measures, and renewable energy solutions.
  • Policy Advocacy: Stay informed about local, state, and national policies related to sustainability and advocate for policies that support the District’s objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, urban planning, landscape architecture or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in sustainability program management, project coordination, or a similar role, preferably in urban sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, green building practices, and environmental metrics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders and convey complex sustainability concepts effectively.
  • Proficiency in data analysis.
  • Organized individual with superior time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and policies related to sustainability and energy efficiency.
  • Experience in grant writing, securing funding, or managing grant-funded programs.
  • Experience with stormwater and water quality best practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $24.04-$25.48 Hourly ($50,000-53,000 full time annual equivalent) commensurate with experience.
