The Town of Ithaca is located in Tompkins County in the Southern Tier region of New York. The town’s population was 19,930 at the 2010 census. The Town of Ithaca is a horseshoe-shaped portion of the Ithaca metropolitan area, surrounding the City of Ithaca.

The City and Town of Ithaca share a local school district and many municipal services. Several of the Town’s government offices, such as the Town Hall, are located within the City. The Town government includes a Town Supervisor and Town Board made up of six members who are elected at-large to four-year terms.
