The Seattle and Bellevue 2030 District works to break down market barriers to building efficiency in an effort to make the community more sustainable and contribute to the region’s environmental resilience, livability, and affordability. As a membership nonprofit, we represent 600 member buildings in Seattle and Bellevue.
Position Overview
We are seeking a driven and organized Sustainability Program Manager to lead our Bellevue 2030 District program, conduct membership recruitment, assist with fundraising, and oversee events. The Program Manager will play a critical role in relationship management, tracking progress toward ambitious sustainability goals, and project advancement. While this role is primarily focused on Bellevue, the selected candidate will also need to support events and programming in Seattle.
Key Responsibilities
- Bellevue 2030 District Program: Manage Bellevue 2030 District program to ensure robust participation and collaboration among stakeholders. Partner with City officials on Bellevue-specific programs, collaborate on municipal policy development, and execute the long-term strategic plan for success in Bellevue.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Recruitment: Foster strong relationships with property owners, managers, developers, local businesses, governmental entities, and community organizations to promote sustainability and drive collaboration. Maintain a regular cadence of prospective member meetings to grow District membership.
- Project Management: Develop and oversee projects aimed at improving building performance, reducing energy consumption, enhancing water efficiency, reducing stormwater pollution, and minimizing transportation emissions. Support grant-funded projects to facilitate stormwater pollution reduction and sustainability in the Puget Sound region.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on energy usage, water consumption, and transportation emissions to track progress, identify trends, and inform decision-making. Meet with property stakeholders to discuss building performance. Produce Annual District Report detailing aggregate District progress toward performance goals.
- Education and Outreach: Work with Events & Engagement Coordinator to develop and execute educational workshops, seminars, and outreach campaigns that raise awareness and promote best practices in sustainability among stakeholders.
- Fundraising: Support fundraising efforts, including grant identification and proposals, sponsorship solicitation, and event coordination. Fundraising, education, and networking events require occasional evening/early morning availability.
- Other Duties as Assigned: As a small nonprofit, every team member is responsible for administrative functions including scheduling, invoicing, and other non-programmatic activities.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in program or project management, preferably in urban sustainability initiatives.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, green building practices, and environmental metrics.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders and convey complex sustainability concepts effectively.
- Organized individual with superior time management skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, urban planning, or a related field.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and policies related to sustainability.
- Experience in grant writing, securing funding, or managing grant-funded programs.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- $70,000-$75,000 based on experience

Physical Requirements
- Moves materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Remains in a stationary position (seated or standing) for up to 50% of the work shift.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs or ramps to access facilities.
- Reaches, bends, or positions self to access files, supplies, or workstations.
- Operates standard office and/or event equipment (computer, phone, copier, etc.).
Environmental Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment with controlled lighting and noise.
- Occasionally works outdoors or in variable light/noise environments for community events.
- May travel locally (up to 25%) to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
- Adheres to applicable workplace safety, health, and accessibility standards.
