The Dallas 2030 District

32 Million Square Feet of Dallas is committed to reducing
the environmental impact of building construction and operations.

The Dallas 2030 District is a public-private-nonprofit collaborative working to create a groundbreaking high-performance building district in downtown Dallas.

Our goal is to dramatically reduce the environmental impacts of building construction and operations while increasing Dallas’s competitiveness in the business environment and increasing owners’ return on investment.

We are proud to be one of the twenty-three established districts operating within The 2030 Districts Network.

TAKE THE 2030 PLEDGE

If you have a commercial building in Dallas and want to pledge to reduce your energy use, water use, and transportation emissions, we'd love to hear from you!

The Goals

GOALS FOR EXISTING BUILDINGS AND INFRASTRUCTURE OPERATIONS:

  • Energy Use: A minimum 20% reduction below the National average by 2020 with incremental targets, reaching a 50% reduction by 2030.
  • Water Use: A minimum 20% reduction below the District average by 2020, with incremental targets, reaching a 50% reduction by 2030.
  • Transportation CO2 Emissions: A minimum 20% reduction below the District average by 2020, with incremental targets, reaching a 50% reduction by 2030.

GOALS FOR NEW BUILDINGS, MAJOR RENOVATIONS, AND NEW INFRASTRUCTURE:

  • Energy Use: an immediate 60% reduction below the National average, with incremental targets, reaching carbon neutral by 2030.
  • Water Use: An immediate 50% reduction below the current District average.
  • Transportation CO2 Emissions: An immediate 50% reduction below the current District average.

NOTE: These goals represent the combined reductions for all 2030 District buildings. The District energy use is determined by the 2003 Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) and is roughly equivalent to an ENERGY STAR score of 50. The transportation targets are calculated by looking at actual existing travel data within the boundaries of the 2030 District.

Watch our video featuring several members and partners who talk about the importance of the District’s work and what it means for their organizations to be part of the District.
