SUMMARY:Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station Tour
DESCRIPTION:Learn how the GWWTS reduces water pollution and improves aquatic habitat and the overall water quality of the Duwamish River. \nThe Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station began operating in fall 2022\, cleaning millions of gallons of polluted stormwater runoff that would have otherwise flowed directly into the Duwamish River and Puget Sound. \nPlease come prepared: \n\nDress for the weather! Most of the tour is outside\nClosed-toe shoes are required\nAll tour participants must be 9 years or older\nThe program will last about two hours\, including a half-mile of walking and several flights of stairs. If any accommodations are needed\, please let us know\nOnce we are out on the plant (starting at 1:30 pm)\, leaving early is not an option\nPlease note that every tour participant must wear a hard hat\, safety vest\, and safety glasses (all provided)\nParking can be challenging (see below). Give yourself extra time to find a space! We will start the program at 1pm\n\nThere is no on-site parking at GWWTS. We encourage attendees to take public transportation; however\, if you do drive\, please plan to park off-site. \nParking: Parking in the industrial part of town where the facility is located can be limited. We recommend allowing ample time to find street parking and arrive early to ensure you have enough time. \nPublic Transit Options: \n\nBus: The area is serviced by several bus routes operated by King County Metro Transit.
