COVID-19 has both changed the way we live and work while highlighting the existing racial and economic inequities in our society. And while the pandemic has slowed down our forward progress on combating climate change, our deadline for meaningful action is the same.

With that in mind, the Philadelphia 2030 District and its goals are more important than ever.

Convened by Green Building United, this voluntary effort by property owners and managers seeks to meet ambitious energy and water use reduction goals and contribute toward districtwide transportation emissions and stormwater goals. Partners that commit their buildings to the goals of the Philadelphia 2030 District are not only measurably improving the environment, but also save money on utility costs, improve the health and comfort of the Philadelphians who live and work in their properties, and stimulate the local economy.

These goals are essential to recovery efforts.

Green Building United is proud to assist Philadelphia 2030 District partners with continuing to make behavioral and operational changes and invest in strategic capital projects. In addition, we have focused our efforts this year on providing assistance to property partners in leveraging requirements of the City of Philadelphia to meet the goals of the district including compliance with energy benchmarking and the Building Energy Performance Policy.

In our newly released report, we are excited to share the significant and scaled impact made to date by the more than 23 million square feet of building space participating in the initiative. In lieu of a written report, we have produced brief videos that capture the important and exciting highlights of what we’ve learned so far.

We look forward to continuing to do our part alongside the city’s largest buildings to advance a sustainable, healthy, and resilient built environment for all Philadelphians.

Check out the virtual report here! Green Building United

The Philadelphia 2030 District recently published their annual report showing some great progress. 2020 was a trying year.
