West Coast Building Science Expert to be Featured Speaker on June 18th<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Carrie Brown, Director at Resource Refocus LLC, will be the main presenter at our upcoming quarterly meeting. She was co-author of the chapter on buildings in the recently released NYS Climate Impacts Assessment. A comprehensive, science-based investigation, the report outlines what to expect from climate change in the state.<\/p>\n

Dr. Brown specializes in zero net energy (ZNE) and zero carbon (ZC) research and consulting at the Oakland, CA-based practice. She also provides energy efficiency consulting for commercial, residential, and multifamily buildings, and carries out building simulation as well as state and federal energy policy research.<\/p>\n

She serves as president of the International Building Performance Simulation Association-USA (IBPSA-USA) and chair of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Decarbonization Task Force Knowledge Hub Working Group.<\/p>\n

Dr. Brown holds a Ph.D. in Building Technology from MIT, an M.S. in Architecture with a concentration in Building Science from UC Berkeley, and a B.S. in Architecture from MIT.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Climate Impacts Assessment\u00a0consists of ten chapters on different aspects of the New York landscape, including agriculture, ecosystems, energy, and health and safety, among others.<\/p>\n

The 67-page\u00a0chapter on buildings<\/a>, which Brown co-authored along with Dr. Nicholas Rajkovich from the University at Buffalo,\u00a0contains important information and guidance for state policymakers as well as commercial and residential property owners.<\/p>\n
