The Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s transformation project is our Green Building Challenge overall winner.\u00a0 This\u00a0project is an\u00a0unprecedented reinvention that aligns the Museum\u2019s architecture with its mission of\u00a0instilling a passion for nature and science in all learners. Working in partnership with DLR Group, this is the first museum in the U.S. to achieve LEEDv4 BD+C NC Platinum certification and was recently named one of the most beautiful museums in the world by Prix Versaille, a global architecture and design award program held annually at UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).<\/p>\n
We will tour the building to appreciate the beautiful design while learning about the many innovative features and new technology used in its construction to save energy, conserve water, and create a healthy environment. This project reduced indoor potable water use by 37% and outdoor water use by 60%.\u00a0They reduced energy use by 32% using passive strategies (low-e glazing, R-30 roof insulation, shading) and active\u00a0systems\u00a0(HVAC plant with efficient heat recovery chiller and\u00a0solar photovoltaic arrays).\u00a0 That’s only the beginning of what we will learn on this tour.\u00a0 Join us to discover more about this truly exceptional Cleveland treasure.<\/p>\n
