SUMMARY:Cleveland 2030 District Tour Series: Cleveland Museum of Natural History (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:The Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s transformation project is our Green Building Challenge overall winner.  This project is an unprecedented reinvention that aligns the Museum’s architecture with its mission of instilling a passion for nature and science in all learners. Working in partnership with DLR Group\, this is the first museum in the U.S. to achieve LEEDv4 BD+C NC Platinum certification and was recently named one of the most beautiful museums in the world by Prix Versaille\, a global architecture and design award program held annually at UNESCO (United Nations Educational\, Scientific and Cultural Organization). \nWe will tour the building to appreciate the beautiful design while learning about the many innovative features and new technology used in its construction to save energy\, conserve water\, and create a healthy environment. This project reduced indoor potable water use by 37% and outdoor water use by 60%. They reduced energy use by 32% using passive strategies (low-e glazing\, R-30 roof insulation\, shading) and active systems (HVAC plant with efficient heat recovery chiller and solar photovoltaic arrays).  That’s only the beginning of what we will learn on this tour.  Join us to discover more about this truly exceptional Cleveland treasure. \nThe tour is limited to 20 attendees. \nParking is available in their attached lot or metered parking is offered on the street around Wade Oval. \nWe will follow the tour with a happy hour for networking and refreshments. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:BUILDING EDUCATION SERIES 2025: CLIMATE GOALS: ARE THEY ENOUGH?
DESCRIPTION:Leading national and local experts will provide an update on climate change and the science-based targets we must achieve to keep global warming in check. Are our targets sufficient\, or is it time to reassess them?\n\n\nOur speakers will review the science behind climate trends and the potential consequences if we fail to meet the global climate targets established by the Paris Accord.  When are we expecting to see 1.5 degrees of warming to occur and what can we predict about our climate?\nWe will examine how the built environment contributes to climate change and how intentional actions by architects and the commercial building sector can make a significant impact. We need to think about mitigation and adaptation for every building we touch.\n\nAdditionally\, we will review some key\, updated built environment related goals outlined in the Cleveland Climate Action Plan\, as well as some included in the draft Regional Climate Action Plan\, presented by Cleveland’s Office of Sustainability.\n\nWe will provide an overview of where the built environment is today and what progress has been made both nationally and globally.  Did we do enough? Are we on track?  We’ll answer those questions.\n\n\nSpeakers:\nDavid Easterling\, Ph.D.\, Chief Scientist\, Future Climate LLC\nElizabeth Beardsley\, Senior Policy Council\,  U.S. Green Building Council\nErin McDade\, Senior Program Director\, Architecture 2030\nSarah O’Keeffe\, Director of Sustainability and Climate Justice\, City of Cleveland\n2 continuing education credits for: BOMA\, AEE\, ASHRAE\, AIA HSW\, certificate of attendance available for self reporting for Professional Engineers\, LEED and others. \n$15 for members of AIA\, ASHRAE\, 2030 Districts\, Cleveland State University\, Greater Cleveland Partnership\, USGBC\, City of Cleveland \n$20 for non-members \nStudents attend for free \nZoom link will be sent once registration is complete. \nREGISTER HERE \nTHANKS TO OUR PRESENTING SPONSOR NOPEC \nTHANKS TO OUR EVENT SPONSOR DUFFY & DUFFY COST SEGREGATION SERVICES

SUMMARY:The Ohio Manufacturers' Association Energy Conference
DESCRIPTION:The conference will again be at the Quest Center in Westerville\, Ohio\, just north of Columbus. The OMA is a leading voice on energy policy in Ohio. The OMA was one of the first\, loudest\, and most long lasting opponents of the corrupt House Bill 6 scheme and instrumental to including pro-consumer provisions in the bipartisan HB15.\n\nThe OMA Energy Conference attracts thought leaders and professionals working to make Ohio’s energy system more transparent\, cost competitive\, and reliable. Speakers and moderators will include representatives from manufacturers and industrial users like Republic Wire\, YUSA\, Plaskolite\, and Williams; data centers Google and Bitdeer; competitive energy companies NextEra\, NRG\, Calpine\, and Scioto Energy; consumer advocates the Electricity Consumer Alliance and Electricity Consumers Resource Council; and allies for competitive markets the API Ohio\, The Buckeye Institute\, and the Ohio Consumers’ Council. We expect about 250 attendees this year.\n\nHear about House Bill 15 from statehouse energy committee chairs Sen. Brian Chavez and Rep. Adam Holmes for our morning plenary. R Street’s Kent Chandler will discuss retail electricity choice for our lunch keynote. And in the afternoon we will hear about the intersection of venture capital\, energy\, manufacturing\, and national defense from Narya Capital’s Falon Donohue.\n\nMore information and registration here.
