SUMMARY:BUILDING EDUCATION SERIES 2023: WHAT PROMOTING ELECTRIFICATION WILL MEAN FOR THE GRID
DESCRIPTION:These questions have been on all our minds: Will the grid be able to handle the increase in demand if we transition to electric? What do we need to do to ensure a thoughtful plan to electrify?  Our speakers will address these questions and more.  We have a panel of experts who will talk about the electrification of buildings and transportation\, the economics\, and what that demand will pose to the grid.  We’ll discuss new technologies\, risks and considerations to decarbonization and how renewable energy will also play a role. We will also hear about the City of Cleveland’s plan for decarbonization\, technology changes and the energy burden on underserved communities.  Our speaker from the General Services Administration will discuss their decarbonization policies and their decisions to electrify and modify specific Cleveland buildings.  There will be ample time for Q&A with this distinguished panel. \nSpeakers:\nDr. Aryeh Gold-Parker\, Associate Director\, Energy + Environmental Economics\nMatthew Stephens-Rich\, Director of Technical Services\, Electrification Coalition\nTimothy Kovach\, Decarbonization Strategist\, City of Cleveland\, Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Climate Justice\nWilliam Renner\, Director\, Facilities Management and Services Programs.
