According to the City of Ann Arbor\u2019s 2024 GHG Inventory buildings (including U-M) account for 67% of community emissions. In its 6<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none font-size-modifier vertical-align\">th<\/span> <span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">year of implementing the A<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none font-size-modifier vertical-align\">2<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">ZERO Plan, the Office of Sustainability will detail its progress and show how its climate action millage funds are being used to advance priorities for 2026-2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">The City of Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability will share progress on plan strategies and goals as well as specific actions being undertaken to accelerate decarbonization in the built environment. The presentation will look at historic actions as well as those planned to be implemented over the next year, with a special focus on how architects, engineers and contractors are critical program collaborators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Speakers:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Missy Stults, PhD &#8211; Sustainability and Innovation Director, City of Ann Arbor<\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">In her role, Missy works with all city operations, residents, businesses, the University of Michigan, nonprofits, and others to make Ann Arbor one of the most sustainable and equitable cities in America. Prior to joining the City, Missy worked with local governments and indigenous \u200b\u200bcommunities around the nation to advance their climate and sustainability goals, including during her time as the Climate Director at ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability and as a consultant to philanthropic organizations. Missy has a PhD in urban resilience from the University of Michigan, a Masters in Climate and Society from Columbia University, and undergraduate degrees in Marine Biology and Environmental Science from the University of New England.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sam Kachuck, PhD &#8211; Commercial Energy Analyst, City of Ann Arbor<\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Sam works to make Ann Arbor a place where businesses and the communities they serve thrive by developing programs that improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and promote our city\u2019s green leaders. Prior to joining OSI, Sam worked as a climate scientist and lecturer at the University of Michigan, researching ice sheets, sea level change, and their impact on communities across the globe.
