Ann Arbor Public Schools and STANTEC will do a deep dive into the systems that AAPS is implementing in their new schools to achieve their carbon neutrality goals.<\/div>\n

Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) is undertaking one of the largest capital improvement programs in the
\ndistrict\u2019s history, with a strong focus on sustainability that closely aligns with the City of Ann Arbor\u2019s
\nA2ZERO carbon neutrality plan. This session will explore how AAPS and its project partners work
\ncollaboratively to select infrastructure that supports the district\u2019s goals of healthy environments, energy
\nefficiency, and improved operational carbon. The session will cover building strategies from October\u2019s
\nmeeting on embodied carbon, followed by case studies highlighting key factors when choosing central
\nHVAC systems and terminal equipment. Recent projects will be highlighted to illustrate decision points in
\nsystem selection, challenges in integrating daylight and views, and opportunities for innovative solutions.
\nPrinciples for photovoltaic layouts will be discussed, including relevant codes and standards for system
\ndesign. Attendees will learn about building infrastructure impact healthy environments, operational
\ncarbon, and energy use, potential tradeoffs between ideal building forms for energy performance and
\ndaylight\/views and identifying key considerations for incorporating photovoltaic systems into school
\nbuildings.<\/div>\n
