SUMMARY:May Lunch and Learn
DESCRIPTION:Electrification & Energy Transition Across Washtenaw County \nWashtenaw County has set the goal of achieving operational carbon neutrality by 2030. The County’s Energy Transition strategy advances Washtenaw County’s efforts to achieve carbon-neutral\, resilient operations. The Solar Prioritization Project evaluated county facilities for on-site solar and battery storage\, creating a roadmap for future renewable energy installations. The County is using their decarbonization study to prioritize actions that reach the Resilient Washtenaw Goals\, including the recently renovated Saline Courthouse\, the second existing county facility to be electrified. The Eastern Washtenaw County Recreation Center\, currently in design\, is scheduled to be opened in 2028. The 65\,000 SF facility is being developed with a goal of being all electric\, in addition to a range of sustainability goals. When completed\, it will not only serve the recreational and social needs of the community but also as a resiliency hub. This will be a community-serving facility augmented to support residents\, coordinate communications\, distribute resources\, and reduce carbon emissions. \nSpeakers:\nMary Braun\, Energy and Sustainability Manager\, Washtenaw County Facilities Management\nSiRui Huang\, Finance and Business Operations Manager\, Washtenaw County Facilities Management & IT\nBeth Gibbons\, Director\, Washtenaw County Resiliency Office\nJason Fee CFM\, Director\, Washtenaw County Facilities Management
